Museum to scale 1/7

32

Museum to scale 1/7 is an initiative of Ronny Van de Velde that is designed by artist Wesley Meuris and in which the museum is subject and object according to good post-modern tradition. The Scaled Museum covers more than a hundred miniature rooms on a 1/7 scale dedicated to Belgian artists and Belgian artistic movements. After paying homage to Marcel Duchamp and his Boîte-en-valise, the course starts with the illustrations of Grandville for the 'Reizen van Gulliver', the famous book in which scale plays an important role. Thematic and historical ensembles around symbolism, surrealism, photography, the Cobra movement, abstract and minimal art lead to Belgian contemporary artists who each have their own room decorated in an original way.

The participating Belgian artists include Jan Fabre, Jan De Cock, Pierre Alechinsky, Koen Van Mechelen, Ann Veronica Janssens, Michel François, and also Angel Vergara, Johan Muyle, Luc Deleu, Luc Tuymans and many others.
